Eco-Tourism & Adventure water sports

Islands have many attractions for adventure loving eco-tourism.  There are 96 wildlife sanctuaries  and 6 national parks.  The island are covered with dense forest and offers variety of exotic flora and fauna. The islands have 92% forest cover, 110 species of wild orchids, 120 species of fish 179 species of corals, 246 varieties of birds etc. Island water is suitable  for adventure water sports like scuba diving, snorkeling, skiing, game fishing etc. Trekking through dense ever green forest , birds watching and island camping in beach are other adventure activities  of the client.

Snorkeling: .Snorkeling  to view corals and marine life you can visit, Northbay, Jolly Buoy, Red Skin, Havelock island etc.

Scuba Diving : Underwater marine life coral can be explored through scuba diving at Rutland Island, Wandoor, Snake Island, North Point, Neil Island etc. Generally two dives including equipment, boat charges, refreshment cost about Rs.3,200/- per person in and around Port Blair.

Game Fishing : Surmai fishing organizes game fishing.

Water Sports: Water sports, skiing, speed boat ride is possible at water sport complex, Aberdeen Jetty.

Trekking: Trekking through evergreen forest is possible from Bambooflat to Mount Harriet, Mount Harriet to Madhuban etc.

Bird Watching: Bird watching is possible during early morning hours at Chidyatapu, Shippigat, Mount Harriet etc.

Island Camping:  Tourism Department operates island camping at Radha Nagar Beach, Havelock.

Turtle Nesting: There are many turtle nesting grounds in these islands.  Cutbertbay near  Rangat can be visited  for turtle nesting.

Volcano: Barren Island about 135kms from Port Blair is the only active volcano in India.
